Sean O'Reilly dreamed of becoming a comic book creator since he was a child. He accomplished his dream in 2004 when he founded Arcana Studio. O'Reilly's studio grew from a one-person operation in his basement to an award-winning comic book publisher with more than 150 graphic novels published for Harper Collins, Simon & Schuster, Random House, Scholastic, and other publishers in only one year. The company received numerous prizes within a year, including the Shuster Award for Best Publisher and the Moonbeam Award for best children's graphic novel. In 2009, O'Reilly won the city of Vancouver's Top 40 Under 40 award, and his graphic novel The Clockwork Girl won Best Graphic Novel at Book Expo America.
O'Reilly is currently one of Canada's most prolific independent comic book creators. He now develops screenplays and adapts his creations for the big screen, but showing no signs of slowing down in comics.
