Irish Legal Anecdotes by Joseph Mcardle
In theory the courts are a forum in which an attempt is made to get at the truth. In practice they have traditionally been seen as a place where an entertaining and engaging battle of wits can occur, with the truth often being the last thing on anyone's mind. Joseph McArdle has assembled hundreds of legal anecdotes which are variously hilarious, touching and sometimes just a bit improbable. It all adds up to a delightful read.
Joseph McArdle is from Monaghan. He has lived and worked in England, Nigeria, Kenya and Belgium and is now a happy resident of Kildare. A barrister, he has worked as a legal civil servant, a judge, a commercial lawyer and roving legal consultant. He has also been a book reviewer, film critic, television scriptwriter and presenter. He has written articles on legal topics, a simple guide to 'How the Law Works' and has published poetry and two novels.
