Irish Poems by Matthew Sweeney
A beautiful gift book featuring a sumptuous and uplifting range of Irish poetry. Matthew Sweeney has chosen classics such as 'Cockles and Mussels', poems from such celebrated poets as Seamus Heaney and W.B. Yeats, and lesser-known gems that he has discovered on his journey through Ireland's rich poetic heritage.
Matthew Sweeney was born in the north-west of Ireland, right next to the Atlantic. When you stand on the beach there and look out, you know the first land you'd come to is Iceland. Since 1973 he has lived in London, Missing the Sea. He is the author of a number of poetry collections for adults and children, including The Flying Spring Onion and A Smell of Fish, and is the editor of The Emergency Kit and the New Faber Book of Children's Verse.
