Irish Poems by Matthew Sweeney
A beautiful gift book featuring a sumptuous and uplifting range of Irish poetry from an impressive range of poets. Matthew Sweeney has included classics such as 'Icham of Irlaunde' and 'Cockles and Mussels' alongside poems from Seamus Heaney and W.B. Yeats but the real joy is the lesser-known gems that he has discovered on his search. Just gorgeous.
Matthew Sweeney was born in the north-west of Ireland, right next to the Altantic. When you stand on the beach there and look out, you know the first land you'd come to is Iceland. Since 1973 he has lived in London, Missing the Sea. He is the author of a number of poetry collections for adults and children, including The Flying Spring Onion and A Smell of Fish, and is the editor of The Emergency Kit and the New Faber Book of Children's Verse.
