Islamei for Piano by Mily Balakirev
Balakirev wrote his Oriental Fantasy Islamei in just one month September 1869. Overwhelming experiences of fine scenery and the magic of exotic music were powerful stimuli for the creation of the work. He travelled to Caucasus and was inspired by a tune he heard there, called Islamey (sic.).
