Many of his books are about Florida, several of which key on crime fiction. He has been nominated for an Edgar Alan Poe Award and was a Fulbright scholar/lecturer in Belize. He has twice been president of the Florida College English Association. He teaches humanities and communication at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach.
