It's Time for A Country Called Nigeria by Robert Siller Jr

This story is about an African American businessman who embarked on what he thought would be a promising business trip to Nigeria in 1978. Although that first business trip was unsuccessful, he would eventually make four more trips, with the hope that the next trip would bring him that elusive financial success. I am that African American businessman, and in the process of making these trips, I lived in the country for more than fourteen years. My experiences included living under military rule, a strained union, corruption, and other social problems. Despite these difficulties, I had the opportunity of sharing the warm and friendly relationships with members of the three major ethnic groups (Hausa, Ibo, and Yoruba) and some of the over 250 minorities.

After witnessing Nigeria's problems for more than fourteen years, it left me with a strong urge to write about their situation in a constructive way. My journey touched on various levels of the Nigerian society, and I would like to share these experiences with you in It's Time for A Country Called Nigeria.

Siller, Bob: - He was less than a year when his parents left the northern rural town of Richwood, Louisiana in search of better employment and living conditions in 1944. Their search led them to Alameda, California an Island city in the Bay Area. Like the majority of African American families, their family was held together with love, faith, determination, and a desire to make the best of any given situation. From this life style he developed a character of goodwill from his mother and the strength of his father to support this goodwill. Even though he was brought up in a Christian home, he was more into the present than the hereafter. He went on to say, I try as much as possible to be neutral when it comes to religion and just about everything else in life. The way I see it, everybody is trying to get through life the best way they know how, and the very least we can do as members of the society is to respect their beliefs or dis-beliefs as long as it does not affect the society in a negative way!
