Professor of Italian Cultural History at University College London, Robert Lumley He was a researcher at the Centre for Modern Cultural Studies in Birmingham and studied contemporary history at the University of Oxford. States of Emergency: Cultures of Rebellion in Italy, 1968–1978 (1990), Arte Povera (2004), and the edited volumes The Museum Time-Machine (1987) and Italian Cityscapes: Culture and Urban Transformation in Modern Italy (with John Foot, 2004) are among his works.
