Jack by Jack Welch
Jack Welch, son of a railway conductor, became Chairman and CEO of one of the world's most profitable companies, General Electric. He describes how he revolutionised GE's corporate culture with his personal management style: a mixture of candour, attentiveness and promotion of informal work.
Jack Welch was born in 1935 in Peabody, Massachusetts, the son of a Boston & Maine train conductor. He joined the General Electric Co in 1960 and was its CEO from 1981 until he retired in 2001.
