Jack-in-the-Box/Tall-Tale Jack by Michael Lawrence
When a baby is found in a cardboard box, he is named after the label on the box, so ends up being called This Way Up. He doesn't like it and sets about finding a new name. Can you guess what it turns out to be? Tall-Tale Jack is a rich man's servant, prone to laziness and inventing elaborate excuses for getting out of doing any work. But the truth can be stranger than fiction, and so it proves to be for this Jack...
Michael Lawrence originally trained as a graphic designer and photographer, but subsequently became a television script reader, press officer, an art and antiques dealer, a painter and sculptor, and several other things he would rather not talk about. His first book, a novel for children, was published in 1995. He is now a full time author, creator of the bestselling and ever-popular Jiggy McCue books, and the Aldous Lexicon trilogy.
