Jaguar XK120 in Detail by Anders Ditlev Clausager

This is the eighth title in the now well-established In Detail series. Its subject, the Jaguar XK120, has become one of the immortals of sports car history and remains one of the most beautiful cars ever built. It took the London Motor Show by storm in 1948, and was built until 1954. Combining extraordinary docility with a startling 120mph top speed, it was the car to be in, whether for cruising California boulevards or racing at Le Mans. The book is published in association with the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust and written by the Trust's Archivist. Drawing from company records and archives, he has been able to provide information on the XK120 that has never been available to enthusiasts before. This, and its focus on the XK120 alone rather than on the whole XK family, make this book uniquely informative.

In 1949, Anders Ditlev Clausager was born in Denmark. He moved to London in 1974 to pursue a master's degree in automobile design at the Royal College of Art. He worked for VW for a short time, designing the second-generation Polo, before returning to England at 1978 to work for British Leyland in Longbridge. In 1979, he joined BL Heritage, which later became the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust, as an archivist, and in 2000, he went to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust as chief archivist, where he remained until 2012. He earned a master's degree in history from the University of Warwick in 2000.

He has written or co-authored 20 books on a wide range of automobiles, largely British, such as Austin, Austin-Healey, Jaguar, MG, Mini, and Sunbeam-Talbot, as well as Porsche and Volvo. He was one of four authors of Britain's Motor Industry: The First Hundred Years, which won an award. He has written for a number of publications, including The Guardian. Anders is well-known for his work as a car historian.

He was a founding member of the Vintage Vehicle Clubs' Committee, which eventually became the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs, and he also served on the Veteran Automobile Club's dating committee for a number of years. He has been Secretary of the Society of Automotive Historians in Britain since 2009, as well as a trustee of the Michael Sedgwick Memorial Trust and a member of the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu's Advisory Committee. The American Association of Automotive Historians has honored him twice with the Bradley Distinguished Service Award. He is always working on one or more projects and has a keen interest in many parts of automotive history.

He lives in Birmingham with his husband David, and after 40 years as a motorcycle rider, he has only lately and reluctantly given up riding a BMW.
