Jazz Maynard Vol 1 by Raule

Jazz Maynard was born in the slums of Barcelona, surrounded by the sort of criminal element that gets under your skin for good. He tried to escape their influence by moving to New York City, but after ten years of living by his own rules, his past caught up with him, forcing him back to the streets that groomed him. Shadows of his former life have been waiting for him, and its time for him to face the inescapable. Jazz Maynard and his childhood friend Teo are not enjoying this unexpected reunion. Jazz had spent the previous ten years in New York, until just three days earlier, when he received a desperate letter from his long-lost sister, who had fallen in with bad company. Jazz did what any good brother would do—he rescued her from the bad company and whisked her back home to Barcelona, the homeland he left ten years earlier. But it didn’t take long for trouble to catch up with him. Three days, in fact. Old criminal relationships are renewed, and Jazz’s skills as a thief and bodyguard are put on display, forced into various underground jobs by foes both old and new. It becomes pretty clear why Jazz might have left, but the question now is whether he will ever be able to leave again . . . A complex tale of antiheroes and criminal agendas in deadly competition, with our hero trapped in the middle.
Raule:

Born in Barcelona in 1971, at the age of 18 Raule won the comics competition in Bellvitge, the city he grew up in. He began drawing at the Joso school, but there he realized that drawing was not for him... He preferred writing. He collaborated with Roger Ibez, with whom he formed a winning duo as they worked together for Otaku, the manga magazine published by Norma. They then published Hole'n'Virgin, Amores muertos and Cabos sueltos at Amanaco before releasing the Jazz Maynard series with Dargaud (2015 Europe Comics). Raule then wrote La conjetura de Poincar (Dibolo Ediciones) with veteran Josep Ma Saur. Since his drawing studies, he has never put his pen down, developing a unique writing style over the course of his albums, a result of dipping his quill into the ink of the Barcelona suburbs as well as the film reels of this genre. Currently he is working with Gabor on the adventures of the female samurai Isabellae, published by Le Lombard (2016 Europe Comics).

Gabor:

Gabor was just a boy when he first got into comic books. He's always been a big reader, and has been drawing ever since he started watching cartoons. He soon set his heart on a career in animation, and took classes in development and pre-production. He started working for Studio Tridente Animation in 1996. That's where he met his friend Juan Diaz Canales, with whom he shared his passion for comic books. He ended up working for this studio for 10 years, during which time he was involved in numerous animation projects such as Cdric (Dupuis, Cinebook in English) Agrippine (Claire Bretcher/Dargaud, Agrippina Europe Comics 2016), and Papyrus (Dupuis, Cinebook in English), as well as on films such as Bcassine, Le Cid and even Asterix and the Vikings. He later published Greenworld with Franois Debois at Soleil, then Les Patriciens with Juan Diaz Canales at Glnat.
