Joan of Arc by Josephine Poole

One summer dau, when Joan was alone in the garden, the air around her turned very clear and bright-much brighter than the sun could make it. While she was wondering what could be happening, she heard voices. Josephine Poole's storytelling powers are at their height as she brings to life this most enigmatic of heroines, capturing Joan's courage and humanity, and vividly evoking the drama, triumph and ultimate tragedy of her crusade. Accessible, meticously researched and above all, told in simple, evocative language this examplary text will enthral children everywhere. Angela Barrett's Joan is both powerful and feminine; fervent but human. From the poetry of a simple girl empowered by her beliefs to the drama of sweeping battle scenes and the majesty of the coronation, Angela Barrett has interpreted this text with extraordinary vision to create a truely inspirational work that is sure to become a classic.
