Joey Dunlop by Mac Mcdiarmid
When Joey Dunlop, undisputed master of the Isle of Man TT, was killed in July 2000, some 50,000 well-wishers attended the funeral, which was broadcast live on Irish television. For the mourning motorcycle road race fans, he was akin to royalty. Mac McDiarmid's biography about the modest Ulsterman - packed with anecdotes, photographs and race information - has sold 19,000 copies since being published in hardback in May 2001.
'..a moving read, not just a race account' The Daily Telegraph 'there's no better qualified author for this work' Biking Times 'a wealth of wonderful photographs...tells the full story of the greatest road racer and a very special man' Top Gear
A former editor of Bike Magazine, Mac McDiarmid has attended every TT since 1976, first as a fan, then as a competitor, and for the past 20 years as a writer and photographer.
