Johannes Brahms - Cello Sonata No.1 - Op.38 - A Score for Cello and Piano by Johannes Brahms
Brahms composed the first two movements during the summer of 1862, as well as an Adagio which was later deleted. The final movement was composed in 1865. The sonata is actually entitled Sonate f r Klavier und Violoncello (for Piano and Cello) and the piano should be a partner - often a leading, often a watchful and considerate partner - but it should under no circumstances assume a purely accompanying role. It is dedicated to Josef G nsbacher, a singing professor and amateur cellist.Johannes Brahms (1833-97), a famous musician of the Romantic era and a skilled pianist who premiered many of his own works, was born in Germany. He composed for piano, chamber groups, symphony orchestra, solo voice, and chorus, among other instruments.
