Baptised in the Birmingham Oratory, Lavinia Byrne lived a devout and pious Catholic childhood. She entered a convent aged 17. This work tells the story of her life, her faith and her decision to leave her order.
Lavinia Byrne was a Sister of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Roamn Catholic Order, until she left in January 2000. She continues to teach at Westcott House Theological College, Cambridge. She is a regular broadcaster on Radio 4 s Thought for the Day.
