Saviour Pirotta was born in Malta and began his career writing children's plays for Maltese Radio. He came to the UK in 1981 where he has established a reputation as a popular storyteller, visiting schools around the country. Little Bird, his first book for Frances Lincoln, was published in 1992. Sheila Moxley studied art at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design, and graphic design at St Martin's School of Art. As a freelance illustrator, she has designed the Amnesty International 1992 calendar and has illustrated many greetings cards for Roger la Borde.
