He is the author of JACO: The Extraordinary and Tragic Life of Jaco Pastorius, Swing It! An Annotated History of Jive,Rockers, Jazzbos & Visionaries, and Legends of Jazz.Milkowski was named Writer of the Year in 2004 by the Jazz Journalists Association. He currently lives in Manhattan, New York.
