The Kenneth Williams Diaries by Russell Davies

For more than 40 years broadcaster and comedian Kenneth Williams kept a journal of his experiences - this book is a one-volume selection of these diaries. In addition to offering conclusive evidence as to the nature of Williams' death in 1988, the diaries reveal a side to his character that many suspected but only few understood. The diaries look at his own tortured sexuality, his relationship with Louie his mother, his thoughts on religion and his verdicts on friends and colleagues such as Noel Coward, Tony Hancock, Sheila Hancock, Maggie Smith and Joe Orton.
Born in Barmouth, Russell has a first-class degree in Modern Languages from St John's College Cambridge. He was Caricaturist of the Times Literary Supplement and Film Critic of the Observer, later TV critic of the Observer and Sunday Times. He first chaired Brain of Britain in 2004. His books include biographies of the cartoonist Vicky and the graphic artist Ronald Searle, and he edited the Kenneth Williams Diaries. He is married with 3 sons, and has played jazz trombone and tuba since 1964.
