Stephen Wilbers, an ardent Nordic ski racer, biker, sailor, canoeist, and extremely patient angler, has made 64 excursions to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, as well as four journeys to the wilds of Canada as a Boy Scout and one to Quetico Provincial Park with his wife, Debbie. He's spent nearly a year of his sixty-two years canoeing in the wilderness, and he hopes to make it two years before he dies. A Boundary Waters History: Canoeing Through Time, a history of the Iowa Writers Workshop, a chapbook of poems titled This Northern Nonsense about Ernest Oberholtzer (the gentle giant who helped save the Boundary Waters from development), and three books of writing training, including Writing for Business (winner of a Minnesota Book Award) and Keys to Excellent WRITING, are among his past publications.
