He was the founder and director of Southeastern Counseling Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, until his retirement in January 1996. Dr. Campbell is an Associate Clinical Professor in the University of Tennessee College of Medicine's Departments of Pediatrics and Psychiatry. Dr. Campbell has a B.S. in biology. He earned a bachelor's degree from the US Naval Academy and a medical degree from the University of Florida.
Dr. Campbell's first book, How To Truly Love Your Child, was released in 1977 and is now in its 35th printing. It has sold over 1 million copies. It was revised and updated in 1992, and it is still a big seller around the world. The Gold Medallion Prize was given to his book, How To Truly Love Your Teenager. Dr. Campbell has lectured across the United States and in a number of European nations in addition to publishing.
He is currently a seminar leader and board member of Ministering to Ministers, a non-profit organization committed to ministers' and their families' support. Dr. Campbell has four grown children and one grandson with his wife, Pat. They have a home in Signal Mountain, Tennessee, where he attends Signal Mountain Baptist Church.
