Hoping to make things right, Earl tries to buy David a horse in a local auction. Sarah, grief-stricken after the death of her husband, tries to find solace in owning a horse, but she needs the help of both Earl and David to learn how to care for her new mare, Gypsy. Gypsy brings the three unlikely characters together, helping each of them in their own way, and David, especially, finds peace in their friendship. Wojciechowska, Maia: - Maia Wojciechowska's family fled Poland during World War II and emigrated to the United States after the war. She worked as an undercover detective, a motorcycle racer, a translator for Radio Free Europe, and a bullfighter before turning to writing. She was a friend of Ernest Hemingway, who said she knew more about bullfighting than any other woman.
