David Melling was born in Oxford. His father was a sculptor and David inherited his artistic leanings. David has received much recognition for his artistic talent. His book 'Brilliant the Dinosaur' (Pavillion) was shortlisted for the 1994 Smarties Book Award and 'What's that Noise?' was longlisted for the Kate Greenaway Award. He is married and lives with his wife and daughter in Oxfordshire.
