Lincoln and Douglass, Spin a Soft Black Song, The Sun Is So Silent, and the Caldecott Honor Book Rosa are all written by Nikki Giovanni. Her autobiography, Gemini, was a National Book Award finalist, and she has won NAACP Image Awards for several of her novels. She was the first person to receive the Rosa L. Parks has received the Langston Hughes Medal for poetry and the Rosa Parks Woman of Courage Award.
