Krik? Krak! by Edwidge Danticat
This debut collection of stories takes the problems of Haiti as its theme. It tells of the plight of fleeing refugees, an unemployed factory worker who tries to escape in a hot air balloon, and a country woman who miscarries her adulterous husband's children and adopts a baby found in the street.
Edwidge Danticat's collection of interlinked stories, KRIK? KRAK!, was shortlisted for the National Book Award in the US. She was also one of GRANTA's Best Young American Novelists.
