La escritura paso a paso is a six-chapter, one-semester program that targets colleges and universities offering courses specialized in Spanish writing and composition at Intermediate to Advanced levels. The aim of La escritura paso a paso is to help learners move from Intermediate to Advanced levels of proficiency as defined in the writing guidelines developed by ACTFL. More specifically, La escritura has been designed to help students advance progressively from Intermediate Low or Mid levels towards Advanced Low or Mid levels of performance.
Dr. Paloma Lapuerta graduated from the University of Salamanca in 1982, Spain, and she holds a Ph.D. from the University of Geneva, Switzerland. She has over 20 years of teaching experience at higher institutions around the world, including Spain, Switzerland, South Africa, and the United States. Currently, she is a Professor at Central Connecticut State University. Her publications on Spanish Literature include numerous articles, chapters in books and the book, La poesía de Félix Grande, Verbum, 1984. She is co-author of several well-known college level Spanish textbooks, such as Mosaicos (1st level Spanish), Identidades (2nd level Spanish) and La escritura paso a paso (Intermediate-Advanced Composition), all of them published by Prentice Hall.
Dr Gustavo Mejia holds a PhD from the University of Essex in England. Currently a Professor in the Department of Modern Languages at Central Connecticut State University, he has taught at several institutions of higher learning in different parts of the world, and has been Associate Director and Interim Director of the Middlebury College School of Spanish in Vermont, as well as directing Middlebury College’s Graduate School in Spain. Dr Mejia has taught at the University of Natal Durban in South Africa and at the Universidad de los Andes and Universidad Nacional in his native Colombia. He coordinates the Summer Institute for Teachers of Spanish (SITS) at CCSU, and has taught workshops on the integration of language and culture through
