Lady Mary Wroth by Lady Mary Wroth
This is the first modernized edition of the poems of Lady Mary Wroth. Born circa 1587 and married in 1604, Lady Mary was part of the Queen's entourage at the court of King James I. The poems reproduced here are from Urania, a chivalric romance published in 1621, and Pamphilia to Amphilanthus, a sonnet sequence.
Pritchard, R. E.: - R. E. Pritchard formerly lectured on seventeenth-century and modern literature at Keele University. Among his publications are the anthology Shakespeare's England, studies of seventeenth-century writer-travellers and, more recently, Passion for Living: John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester, a biography of the outrageous wit and poet at Charles II's court. He now lives in West Oxfordshire.
