In 2015, she ran her first sub-three-hour marathon, a success she attributes to years of trail running in Derbyshire and the Lake District, where she was a proud member of Ambleside AC. Her first novel Black Car Burning was published in 2019. She edited Waymaking and has written for Alpinist and Climb. In 2017, she was a judge for the Man Booker International Prize, and chair of judges for the Boardman Tasker Award for Mountain Literature.
