Romm is the Executive Director and Founder of the Center for Energy and Climate Solutions, as well as a Capital E principal. Future Directions for Hydrogen Energy Research and Education, a National Science Foundation project, has him as the primary investigator. He is a senior fellow of the Center for American Progress and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Romm served as Acting Assistant Secretary and Senior Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Department of Energy's billion-dollar Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
He was a key figure in the development of the Obama administration's climate change technology policy.
