Willy Lindwer, a Dutch filmmaker and the son of Jewish parents who hid during the German occupation, was born in Amsterdam in 1946. He's worked on a number of documentaries for Dutch television as well as international coproductions. His documentary about Anne Frank's final seven months earned an worldwide Emmy Award when it was first broadcast on public television to commemorate the sixtieth anniversary of her birth.
