Laurie Lee by Jock Gallagher

Laurie Lee's memorial service was held in St James' Church, Piccadilly, in October following his death in May 1997. At the service a number of speakers, including John Mortimer, David Blunkett, Roger Mcgough and the Irish ambassador to Spain, talked about different aspects of Laurie's life: his work with the government film unit, his love of music, the writing and publishing of his last book, and so on. This tribute to Laurie, published on the first anniversary of his death, consists of all these pieces together with excerpts from his own books and some photographs - in effect, a small biography.
For forty years Jock Gallagher worked in the media, as a journalist for various newspapers and then as a producer, editor and program head with the BBC before setting up his own production and communications company.
