The more you take God's Word to heart and learn to do it His way the easier it will be to overcome sin and become a slave to righteousness, which is truly freedom. What was once vague can become black and white because our spiritual nature and fleshly nature become easier to identify. God gives power to our spirit so we can learn to reject sin and embrace His righteousness. We need to wake up and learn to conform to your new identity in Christ.
