Valerie Michael is a founding member of the Association of Designer Leatherworkers and has been a full-time leatherworker for over twenty years. She began her leather working career in Bristol in 1971. Today she makes a range of men's and women's bags, cases, luggage, belts, cases, wallets, purses using only the best quality vegetable-tanned leathers. She is one of the few people who are allowed to use the unique 'Russia' leather which was salvaged from the Metta Catharina, a Russian ship which sank in 1786 off the Cornish coast.
