Synopsis coming soon.......Douglas Southall Freeman, the son of a Confederate soldier, was born in Lynchburg, Virginia, in 1886 and had earned his Ph.D. by the age of 22. Johns Hopkins University awarded him a bachelor's degree in history. He was named editor of The Richmond News Leader seven years later, a position he would maintain for 34 years. Freeman was a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, the first for his four-volume biography of Robert E. Lee, and the second for his four-volume biography of Robert E. Lee. Later, he was known for his six-volume biography of George Washington, which he completed just hours before his death in 1953.
