Parinoush Saniee nació en 1949 en el seno de una familia erudita de Teherán. Socióloga y psicóloga de formación, es autora de dos novelas: El libro de mi destino y Una voz escondida. La primera de ellas nació como resultado de un proyecto de investigación realizado en torno a la generación de mujeres que vivieron la Revolución durante su adolescencia. A pesar de haber superado las veinticuatro ediciones, la novela fue prohibida en Irán y publicada clandestinamente. Los derechos de traducción se han vendido a veinticinco países, y en 2010 obtuvo el prestigioso Premio Bocaccio a la mejor novela extranjera en Italia. Parinoush Saniee vive en Teherán, donde se dedica a escribir, leer y pintar.
