A Life of Emily Bronte by Edward Chitham
In his biography of Emily Bronte, Edward Chitham uses neglected material to explore the origins of her inspirations and her conflicts. He looks particularly at her childhood, at her relationship with her family, and develops his previous research into the influence of her father's Irish background. Her contacts with people outside the family are also closely examined.
Edward Chitham was a Senior Lecturer in Education at Dudley College of Education, before moving on to work for the Open University and for Newman College, Birmingham. He has published widely on subjects such as the Brontes and on the Dudley's history.
