The Sufi Way International's spiritual director (Pir) is Elias Amidon. For the past forty-two years, he has been a Sufi Way initiate. Pir Elias has also studied with Qadiri Sufis in Morocco, Theravaden Buddhist instructors in Thailand, Native American teachers of the Assembly of the Morning Star, Christian monks in Syria, White Plum Sangha Zen teachers, and current Dzogchen teachers. He helped to build numerous schools, including the Boulder Institute for Nature and the Human Spirit, the graduate program, and the Boulder Institute for Nature and the Human Spirit. He graduated from Antioch College with a bachelor's degree in literature and has published six novels. Pir Elias has been leading Sufi and Open Path workshops for over three decades. He now lives in Boulder, Colorado, but he still travels extensively, teaching Open Path workshops and working in citizen diplomacy.
