Even the title of this new edition has been thoroughly revised to embrace the broad approach book takes in working with individuals looking to change their lifestyles for health-related reasons. Professionals learn how to work with individuals looking to tackle such issues as weight management, nutritional balance, exercise regularity, stress management and sleep issues with a focus on a balanced, complete wellness approach. It employs an approach which allows individuals flexibility on how they use the book and also allows those with credentials in fitness related areas, but not necessarily in coaching, to embrace and implement the book's content.
James Gavin has been designing and delivering training programmes in lifestyle fitness coaching to health fitness professionals since 1998. Gavin, has been a consultant to health fitness centres for 25 years and a practitioner of counseling psychology for more than 35 years. He has written and researched extensively concerning fitness personality matching and has presented around the world. Madeleine Mcbrearty is currently a Special Individualized Program (SIP) doctoral candidate at Concordia University, Quebec from where she also received a Master degree in Human Systems Intervention. The focus of her academic research is personal change. She works with women who engage in weight management as a means to understanding intrapersonal change processes.
