A Likely Story by Rodney Bewes

By turns funny, charming and sad, this is the story of a sensitive and sickly lad's northern working-class childhood and subsequent rise to fame. Along the way, we hear of his laddish behaviour in swinging London in the company of the biggest stars of the day, including how he climbed Big Ben to hang a pair of knickers on the hand of the clock; of his troubled relationship with "Likely Lads" co-star James Bolam; and many celebrity stories, featuring Ralph Richardson, Laurence Olivier, Rod Steiger, Tom Courtney and Raquel Welch.
