
Listening to Young Children by Y Penny Lancaster
Supports practitioners' understanding of what it means to include the voices of children and to respond to what children have to say. This work enables parents to develop and offer children opportunities to express their views of experiences in their daily lives. It is intended for a range of settings including home, playgroups, and nurseries.
Y. Penny Lancaster MEd has five years teaching experience in primary schools in New Zealand and fifteen years experience of being responsible for community and educational projects firstly in the Netherlands and then internationally in Humanitarian Relief. She recently graduated in Refugee Studies at Oxford University and is the director of Coram Family's Listening to Young Children Project. Vanessa Broadbent MSc is the Childcare Regeneration Officer for Leeds and is the development officer of the Listening to Young Children Project. She has worked in the area of childcare and education for over 15 years. She has contributed to research and development on promoting children's learning from birth to five years, family literacy and early intervention programmes.
