The Literary Animal by Jonathan Gottschall
The goal of this book is to overcome some of the misunderstandings about the meaning of a Darwinian approach to the human mind generally, and literature specifically. It attempts to show how the human propensity for literature and art can be properly framed as a true evolutionary problem.Binghamton University's David Sloan Wilson is a respected professor of biology and anthropology. He is the coeditor of The Literary Animal: Evolution and the Nature of Storytelling and the author of Darwin's Cathedral: Evolution, Religion, and the Nature of Society. He is also the coauthor of Unto Others: The Evolution and Psychology of Unselfish Conduct.
