Little Friend by Colleen Mckeown
When Laura finds a little duckling, hurt and all alone, she takes him home and cuddles him warm. Day by day she helps him grow bigger and stronger, and the two become firm friends. But then one day the duckling hears the call of the wild ducks, and Laura knows that she must teach her little friend to fly.
Colleen McKeown was born in Belfast but moved to England aged nineteen to study at the Liverpool School of Art. It was here she began illustrating for children, which led her to complete the Children's Book Illustration Masters at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. Little Friend is her second book.
