Liverpool Daisy by Helen Forrester
Only depression-shrouded Liverpool could spawn a big, tough, loving character like Daisy Gallaher. Passionate in her loves and hatreds, she is the Nan of her poverty-stricken family and devoted friend of Nellie O'Brien, who is dying from lack of medical attention. Born in England and wife of a Professor of Theoretical Physics, Helen Forrester and her Canadian born son live in Edmonton, Alberta. Helen Forrester has travelled widely. She particularly enjoys the theatre, and walking in the countryside. She also collects fans and is a member of the International Fan Circle
