The photographs in this book capture the gritty reality of life in East London during the Swinging Sixties. East Enders were preoccupied with other concerns: widespread poverty, poor housing, industrial unrest and racial tension.Steve Lewis's early days as a press photographer were spent in the east end of London, during which time the photographs he took captured the gritty reality of life East End life in the 60s. In 1972 he joined The Sun newspaper his photographic assignments ranged from celebrities to fashion. He left the paper in 2006, having worked there for 35 years. He lives in London.
