Visit www.pjwhittlesea.com to learn more about him. My venture into serious writing began with a poem. A simple love dedication.

I was also interested in composing music at the time, and a friend gave me some advice: you can sing whatever you write if you had a guitar. I taught myself a few basic guitar chords and then turned my poem into a song. It was the very first song I ever composed. I've composed hundreds of lyrics since then.

Many of them were turned into songs, but some were not. Lyric writing became a hobby for me. I discovered that turning them into songs was the most effective way of expressing my ideas. Yet, I was more concerned with the narrative than with the music.

Music was simply a means of expressing the words. I eventually decided to take things a step further and compose a musical. I attempted to write the musical on multiple occasions, but it never came together. The musical's story, on the other hand, has been with me ever since.

I decided to take the plunge and write something more significant than a poem or lyric about four years ago. I made the decision to create a novel. Writing an complete book sounded difficult because I was used to writing extremely short and brief pieces, usually to represent or describe a particular experience or emotion. It took a lot of words.

I started with a few concepts, but in the end, the story behind the musical was the most compelling. It refused to let me go. It's now turned into my first novel.
