Loss and Learning Disability by Noelle Blackman
The emotional life of people with learning disabilities is a subject that has only begun to be thought about during the last decade. This book by Noelle Blackman addresses the central issue of how people with learning disabilities can be affected by bereavement.
Noelle Blackman trained as a dramatherapist at St. Alban's College of Art and Design (now the University of Hertfordshire) in 1994. She set up the roc Loss and Bereavement Service for people with learning disabilities in 1997 and is co-ordinator of the GOLD group (Growing Older with Learning Disabilities), part of the Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities UK. She organised national conferences on dying, loss and bereavement for people with learning disabilities in 1999 and 2000, and has presented numerous papers on the subject. She is editor of Living with Loss (Pavillion, 1999).
