LAWRENCE BEESLEY (1877 - 1967) was a Titanic survivor who worked as a science teacher, journalist, and author. He was born in the Derbyshire town of Wirksworth. Beesley's book about the accident, which came released only nine weeks after the disaster, was a major hit. Beesley famously gate crashed the set during the sinking sequence in A Night to Remember, hoping to 'go down with the ship' that time.
