This collection of photographs from the archives of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution features its history from the 1920s to the end of World War Two, and includes pictures of Henry Blogg, probably the most famous lifeboat man of all time.
Edward Wake-Walker worked for the Royal Lifeboat Institution for 28 years. He has a profound knowledge of the lifeboat service's 179-year history and has travelled widely throughout the UK and Ireland, meeting and writing about many of the most well-known lifeboat coxswains.
