The system in this area was largely the result of development by a number of local authorities – such as Ilford and West Ham corporations – and was converted largely to trolley bus operation in the years leading to 1940. -- Cyngor Llyfrau CymruBrought up in Bradford, Peter Waller grew up witnessing the gradual decline of the city s trolleybus network. His first book, British and Irish Tramway Systems since 1945, was published in 1992 and since then he has written extensively on trans-port subjects. Moving to Shropshire in 2007, he is now a full-time author and editor and well as being a director and secretary of the Online Transport Archive and a committee member of the National Railway Heritage Awards.
