Though God may not have brought the challenges their way, He can always make use of them for your child's good.

Gif the giraffe, pronounced Jif, was first painted on our nursery room wall as we prepared for our first adopted daughter. He gained his name almost three years later when she would say goodnight to the animals and she called him peanut butter. Like that creamy substance on the roof of your mouth, the name just stuck.

In Loved As You Are we are invited into Gif's journey of adoption through foster care. For kiddos who experience these unimaginable challenges and hardships it can become hard to see God's love for them or His bigger picture, sometimes making them feel hopeless or unloveable.

But as we travel through this journey we find that not only is God with us in the most difficult of times, but He redeems them to be a part of His beautiful portrait and our testimony.

Cohen, Steve: - One word can explain God's design of me: passion. Regardless of the ministry, event, class, sport, program or relationship, if I'm involved, my heart is fully invested and passionate about seeing God's heart manifested. Many have been influenced by this, some have been intimidated (thinking I expect the same level of them), but few let it go unnoticed. My name is, Steve Cohen, and after being lost for over 26 years, searching various religions and non-religions, coming to Christ was a huge moment in my life. The fulfillment that I had searched for in alcohol, drugs, parties, fast cars and fast women was met through the Creator and Savior of the world (hard to get any better than that, but my wife, Courtney, comes close). The control and sometimes lack thereof had to be surrendered to that same Creator and Savior, Jesus. While it was freeing on one hand, it was not easy and at times has left the other hand grasping for a hold of something. In Christianese, that is called the battle of the flesh...simply put: the old Steve and new still have to wrestle it out sometimes. I love sharing my journey, sharing my experiences, battles, lessons and words from God so that you may first know Jesus as your Savior, friend and confidant as well as know you are not alone, so you may share the Light of the World, Jesus, with others confidently, passionately and joyfully.
